Biography

Born in Havana, Cuba, Agustin Rolando Rojas was formally trained at the San Alejandro Academy 1974-1978 and Higher Art Institute 1978-1983, both in Havana, with an emphasis on printmaking. From 1983-1996, he taught and collaborate with the new printmaking programs at the university. In 1994 he was selected to show his etchings at The Havana 5th Biennial, and by 1995 these group of six mezzotints etching gave him a prize at Pilar Joan Miro; Sotheby’s Foundation.

In 1997, the artist won an Artist Residency at the Banff Center for the Arts in Calgary and came to Canada. After living in Canada for six years, Agustin Rolando Rojas moved to the U.S.A where he lived for four years. Currently living and working in Toronto, Canada since 2007, his goals still are linked with international scope of printmaking biennials.

His artworks are collected by important museums and cultural institutions as National Fine Art Museum of Havana, Wolfgang Shreiner, Private Collecting of Ludwig Foundation, Lowe Art Museum, Cuban American Permanent Collection and others.
